This is what I've saying in all of my previous answers. The Americans who bennefit from the illegal immigrants are more numerous and more powerful (big corporations, some govenment agencies, etc.) than those who keep whining about it. At the end that majority will prevail no matter how much whining the antis do. Amnesty? I don't know. It's a really hot issue.





I think congress is a bunch of chickens. I think that they will be too scared that they will loose their jobs because there are too many people upset.
Legalization of drugs? Not on their political life, and they know what would happen if they did. The majority of people in the US don't use illegal drugs.
Actually the Democrats only really have control of the House of Representatives. To pass any bill in the Senate will require some Republican support.


What is it that you are so certain will be legalized?
Not unless Bush wants it (and he does).





If Bush were to veto any amnesty bill, the Democrats wouldn't have enough votes to overturn his veto. Republicans would have to approve as well.





Also, Bush has already proposed guest worker visas which is loosely veiled amnesty.





The last President to provide amnesty: conservative Reagan.

God I hope so. I am tired of paying taxes so these ';criminals'; can get free education, health care, etc. Send them back to where they belong!
And they'd still have to get past Bush's veto, which they don't have the votes to override.
