Consider this, Your mother's just as human as anyone else in the world, people have many difficulties in their lives. Sometimes they are afraid to reveal problems to others, so they find other ways to either cope with or numb themselves. Alcohol does not taste GOOD, it's makes you look and feel terrible. So, nobody wants to be addicted ,ridiculed or unattractive. Therefore, she has a COMMON problem and can't simply quit. There are physical withdrawals to suddenly quitting, that are beyond her control now. Be compassionate and talk to her like a human and not an addict, ask her to look at herself in the mirror and if she is happy with her appearance. She won't be, from there, offer to HELP her get help, DO NOT ridicule her for her weakness. The fact that she quit before indicates her desire to do better, she just needs help again until she succeeds in kicking the habit. But don't make the issue about you are your family, because that may cause her to feel guilt and possibly drink even more or do something worse. After all, who WANTS to cry alone at night, feeling hungover and UNATTRACTIVE. Keep trying.
